As France's longest river, the Loire retains a special importance as an artery for tourism, adorned along its length by France's most famous royal châteaux and historic medieval towns.
It is, of course, a river of wine too, in an almost literal sense – a truly bacchanalian waterway – flowing from world-renowned white at Pouilly and Montrichard and sparkling elegantly through Vouvray and Montlouis before turning to the complex and often-underestimated red of Chinon, Bourgueil and Saumur.
And yet, despite all this richness that is constantly at the fingertips of the locals, for tourists the real (and often the best) vineyards and food producers remain a tantalising mystery – a closely-guarded secret. All of this has led us to the decision to put our combined years of local knowledge to good use and offer outsiders an inside look at some of the Loire's most interesting wines, foods and attractions.
From the well-informed to the merely curious, we tailor-make the tour for you, offering personalised tasting sessions in up to four working vineyards per day, and world-class wines at cellar door prices. A day's tour costs around 135€ per person, and all visits include transport, bilingual guides and a meal in a specially-chosen local restaurant.
